PIKO 52387 is a highly detailed H0 scale model of the SM41 diesel shunting locomotive operated by Polish State Railways during Era IV. This version is supplied for analog DC operation and is ready for digital upgrade.

History of the SM41 locomotive

In the late 1950s, Polish State Railways introduced the Hungarian-built M44 locomotives to modernise shunting operations. Renumbered as SM40 and later SM41, these locomotives became known for their reliability, strong tractive effort and simple maintenance.

They served at major railway hubs, regional freight yards and industrial sidings, becoming a characteristic element of Polish railway operations during Era IV.
