Coffee, thinking and work - a workflow as described by Piotr Słomiński
About his own tricks for photoetched parts, tried tools, specifics that are worth having in your workshop and about model building in general we talked to Piotr "Słoma" Słomiński, an experienced and award-winning modeller, author of reviews and step by step articles on model building, member of the Cracow’s modelling Group B.
Exito great test of decal setting solutions - part II - extreme surfaces.
Before you is the second part of our great test of decal setting solutions!
For this part, we have prepared a special plate with irregularities that will make placing decals over them a very difficult task - if not impossible for getting 100% perfect. We will apply decals over them, then soak with decal solutions and... we'll see what happens!
So make yourself comfortable and have a pleasant read!
This is how our PZL p.11c is presented in its full glory, made by Piotr Slominski from the Arma Hobby kit.
And, we might add, only minimally enhanced with additional details! In our opinion it looks great, but see for yourself by looking at the photos!
In this installment of our blog there is something for fans of Polish aviation!
Piotr Słomiński, a well known and respected modeller, has agreed to make for us the icon and pride of our aviation - the PZL P.11c in 1/48 scale from Arma Hobby.
What techniques he used and how the build itself went - you will find out in this article!
And after reading, be sure to see the gallery of the finished model!
Before you is a large and detailed test of qdecal setting solutions!! We have tested eight of the most popular products on a three types of vastly different decal types!
In the first part we focus on applying and softening decals on a typical model kit surface and details so you can get an easy reference point for you own work.
Reserve some time, have a nice cup of tear or coffee at hand and
have a nice read!
Here's a gallery of a finished Type 10 MBT model in 1/48 scale made by Witold Socha.
How he acheived that - you can read in our 'how to' article - link below:O tym jak to wykonał możecie przeczytać w naszym artykule na blogu, do którego link znajdziecie poniżej:
We have another article for you, where you can read about the process of building, painting and weathering a nice tank model! Again we are reaching for the Witek Socha's support, who this time approached the suject in a more traditional manner so to say. He used products that are being slowly phased out of the market, by their branded counterparts, but are still present in many modeller's workshops!
Have a good read and don't forget to check out the finished model's gallery!!
Here's another model kit made by Witold Socha, who wanted to share the building, painting and weathering process with you! It surely is an interesting build - especially for those who fancy less known tank designs and it might also serve as an inspiration for your "what-if?" build!
Be sure to check out the finished model's gallery:
Here's a gallery of a finished ARL 44 made by Witold Socha.
If you want to see how it was built, take a look at this link:

Are you admiring on the pictures or model festivals aircrafts decalled (sometimes AFVs) with colourful markings and liveries? Are you impressed by perfectly applied even the smallest stencil decals? Now you can do this too, but what you will a decal solution for this!
In this article Robert will make a short overview of the decal solutions available on the market with their properties, advantages and disadvantages described very clearly!
It's time on our blog to feature one of the most important aspects of any AFV model kit - tracks! What are types of tracks you can find in the kit and on the market, what are their properties and why it's advisable (or not) using them. You will find all those topics in our article!
Our shop's shelves are packed with a lot of different model paints - you can easily get lost among them! So to avoid this happening, RObert prepared for you a brief guide about paints for brush painting. He chose this paints family, because they tend to be the most all around products (they can also be airbrushed), popular and well suited for children and those who have just entered our hobby!
Take a read!
Take a look at another model guide by Witek Socha! This time he tackled a Japanese tankette, so you will be able to see how to recreate their unique camouflage pattern and how to make a very distinct lush jungle foliage on the model's base. And last but definitely not leas - Witek painted the camouflage using acrylics and a paintbrush!
Painting the model black is not as easy as it might seem. How to make some weathering on it? See how Piotr Słomiński dealt with this problem. Below's the second part of our guide featuring Su-22 model kit in 1/48 scale from Kitty Hawk.
There has been a lot written about scale model making. For some it's a way for spending spare time, for others a sports discipline (if we're talking about radio-controlled model kits) and it constantly evolves. Speed of this evolution which happened since 2008 until today is very similar to the speed in which today's computers develop. There is rarely a week in which no new model kits, aftermarket detail sets or some kind of tool or paint isn't announced. Companies are in a state of permanent arms race with their products that deliver to the modelling market more and more new goods which facilitate working in our hobby. The choice is huge right now and it's growing bigger and bigger each day!
The Su-22 airplane, though now being obsolete, has its place in the history of Polish aviation. Many modellers have some sentiment for this machine, so we hope that this article presenting the step by step building and painting process of Kitty Hawk's Su-22 UM 3-K in Polish livery with warthog's head on the nose would be a pleasant lecture. Below's the first part of our guide build, written and photographed by Piotr „Słoma” Słomiński - as usual with top notch photographs and a handful of useful modelling advice.
Witek Socha again shares with us some secrets of his workshop! This time he wrestles with a Bedforda QL Refueller from IBG - so a variant used as an airfield tanker. You find plenty of photographs in below article and you will get from them a lot of useful modelling knowledge and modelling techniques along with proven products and interesting ideas to make your own models more interesting!
