Description

Transforming self-assembly model kit of the Tobot X robot

Academy 15823 depicts Tobot X - one of the core characters of the first generation of the Korean animated series Tobot. The finished model is approx. 220 mm tall and transforms from a car into a robot, reproducing the defining feature of the original.

The kit is made up of parts moulded in multiple colours, and soft plastic joints allow the finished figure to be posed. The manufacturer rates the model level 1, meaning very easy - it is aimed above all at newcomers to the hobby.

What's in the box:

  • Sticker sheet with markings
  • Illustrated assembly instructions with a painting guide

Building the model:

This is one of the simplest kits in the Academy range - factory-coloured parts and a level 1 rating mean assembly without cement and without any need to paint. Parts are cut off with side cutters, cleaned up along the gate marks and joined following the instructions. It is worth spending a moment on edge clean-up, as gate marks remain visible on an unpainted model.

The stickers are best applied to clean, grease-free surfaces and pressed down gradually from the centre outwards, which reduces the risk of trapped air bubbles. On a transforming model it is worth checking beforehand that a given marking will not end up on a moving joint. Anyone who wants to paint the model will find a painting guide in the instructions.

Tools you will need:

  • Modelling side cutters for removing parts from the sprues
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sanding paper for cleaning up gate marks
  • Precision modelling tweezers for applying the stickers
  • Optional: modelling paints and brushes in various sizes
  • Optional: a wash to accentuate details

About the machine - Tobot X:

Tobot X is one of the core characters of the first generation of the Tobot series. Like the other machines in that world, it is formed by transforming a car - and the transformation is not so much an added feature as the very basis of the design.

The Academy kit reproduces that quality: the finished model can be switched between car and robot form, while the soft plastic joints let you set the figure in a chosen pose. At approx. 220 mm tall, it makes an effective standalone display piece.

About the series - Tobot:

  • Korean animated series produced by Young Toys
  • Broadcast since 2010
  • Follows robots created from transforming cars
  • Tobot X is one of the core characters of the first generation of the series
