Description

Hyundai Grandeur GN7 car self-assembly model – Academy 4D Kit

Academy 15407 depicts the seventh-generation Hyundai Grandeur, factory code GN7 – a luxury saloon launched in November 2022. Its bodywork references the first-generation Grandeur, combining angular proportions with modern lighting; the most distinctive feature is the light bar running across the full width of the front end.

The kit belongs to the 4D Kit series, in which the parts snap together without glue. The parts are coloured at the factory, so painting is not required and the model is ready for display as soon as it is assembled. Kits in this series usually contain around 20 to 40 parts, giving a very low difficulty level and a short build. The manufacturer recommends it from age 8.

What's in the box:

  • Coloured plastic parts
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Kit specifications:

  • Scale: not specified by the manufacturer
  • Product code: 15407
  • Manufacturer: Academy
  • Series: 4D Kit
  • Age: 8 and up
  • Difficulty level: beginner

Please note: this is a self-assembly model. Paints and modelling tools are not included.

Building the model:

The build comes down to cutting the parts free and clicking them together. On a car model it is especially worth smoothing the gate marks along the edges of the body – these are the first places the eye settles on, and a clean body line is what makes the finished car convincing.

Anyone who wants to add their own touches can hand-paint the smaller details: window surrounds, light lenses, wheels or interior elements. A light wash in the body panel lines will emphasise the shape of the saloon. These are suggestions for those who want them – the kit is complete without any painting.

Tools you will need:

  • Modelling nippers for removing parts from the sprues
  • A hobby knife or scalpel
  • A file or sanding paper to smooth the gate marks
  • Optional: model paints, brushes and a wash, for builders who want to add their own painting

About the car – Hyundai Grandeur GN7:

The Hyundai Grandeur is the Korean brand's flagship saloon, on the market since the 1980s and traditionally associated with the executive segment. The seventh generation, factory code GN7, debuted in November 2022 and brought a clear change of styling direction.

The designers turned to a retro-futuristic design language, echoing the proportions and details of the first-generation Grandeur of the 1980s while placing them in a contemporary context. The most recognisable element is the light bar stretching across the entire front of the body, complemented by a large flat grille and door handles set flush into the body sides.

In some export markets the equivalent model is sold as the Hyundai Azera – the same car under a different name. The body is around 5035 mm long with a wheelbase of about 2895 mm, placing the Grandeur in the large saloon class.

Original car specifications (Hyundai Grandeur GN7):

  • Body type: luxury saloon
  • Factory code: GN7 (seventh generation)
  • Launch: November 2022
  • Length: approx. 5035 mm
  • Wheelbase: approx. 2895 mm
  • Market equivalent: Hyundai Azera (in some export markets)
  • Signature feature: full-width front light bar

About the manufacturer – Academy:

Academy Plastic Model is a Korean manufacturer of assembly kits, in business since 1969. Its catalogue covers aircraft, ships, armour and civilian vehicles in the popular modelling scales, along with educational sets and simple kits aimed at younger builders. The brand is known for its broad range of Korean subjects – both modern Republic of Korea military hardware and cars from that market. Academy mouldings feature crisp engraved detail and good part fit, and the instructions are illustrated step by step, which helps less experienced modellers. A separate part of the catalogue consists of series with factory-coloured parts and snap-fit assembly, including the 4D Kit line. Academy kits are sold worldwide and have long been among the most widely chosen sets in the affordable segment.
