NS series 1000 electric locomotive model in H0 scale

This model represents an electric locomotive of the Dutch State Railways (NS) series 1000 in Era III livery. The prototype was based on the Swiss SBB Ae 4/6 design but adapted for operation on the Dutch DC network. The PIKO model faithfully captures the appearance and character of this historic locomotive.

About the NS series 1000 locomotives:

The NS series 1000 electric locomotives were developed based on the Swiss SBB Ae 4/6 design, but adapted for the Dutch DC electrification system. Although originally intended for express passenger services between major cities, they were mainly used in freight service. These locomotives were in operation from 1948 to 1982. Of the ten units built, only locomotive no. 1010 has been preserved and is displayed at the Railway Museum in Utrecht.
