About the 150.Y locomotives:

The 150.Y locomotives were the French version of the German wartime BR 52 engines. Built during 1943–1944 and shortly after World War II, more than 100 units entered service with SNCF.

One notable feature was the shortened chimney, adapted to meet the French loading gauge. These locomotives operated mainly in eastern France, hauling both heavy freight and passenger trains until the late 1950s.
