Description

1 Man Army Masking Set for Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Va (Kotare) in 1:32 Scale

1 Man Army 32DET054 is a set of precisely laser-cut self-adhesive masks designed for painting basic markings and stencils on the Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Va kit by Kotare (K32002) in 1:32 scale. The set allows you to replace decals with airbrushed markings applied directly to the model surface — the markings sit within the paint layer, with no visible carrier film edges and no risk of silvering.

The masks are cut from yellow Kabuki-type low-tack masking tape designed for modelling use. The set is dimensionally matched to the Kotare K32002 kit and covers basic markings (roundels, identification bands, letter codes) as well as stencil templates. An illustrated placement guide showing the position of each marking on the airframe is included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks with laser-cut basic markings
  • Stencil templates characteristic of the Spitfire Mk. Va
  • Illustrated placement guide

Stencil masks for painting markings – a modern alternative to decals

Stencil masks are designed for modellers who want to reproduce RAF roundels, squadron codes, tactical numbers and maintenance stencils by painting them rather than applying decals. Painted markings are part of the lacquer layer — they blend into the model surface, share the same texture as the surrounding camouflage and produce no visible film edges or silvering effect.

1 Man Army masks are laser-cut from yellow Kabuki-type low-tack tape, safe for dry, cured modelling surfaces. The recommended application method is to transfer the mask to the model using transfer tape, press the edges down firmly, then apply a thin coat of paint by airbrush. Once dry, the mask should be removed — the recommended time left on the model should not exceed a few days. The surface should be clean, dry, degreased and fully cured. Masks are intended for single use.

About the aircraft – Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Va:

The Supermarine Spitfire is one of the most recognisable fighters of the Second World War, designed by Reginald Mitchell and produced in dozens of variants throughout the war. The Mk. V was the first mass-produced variant and for a long time formed the backbone of RAF Fighter Command over Western Europe. The Spitfire Mk. Va was armed with eight .303 in Browning machine guns in Type A wings and powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 or 46 engine developing approximately 1,470 hp.

The Mk. V entered service in February 1941 and quickly replaced the Mk. I and Mk. II in front-line units. Spitfire Mk. Va and Mk. Vb aircraft served during offensive operations over France and Belgium (Operation Circus) and played a crucial role in the defence of Malta. The type was supplied to numerous allied air forces, including Australian, Canadian and New Zealand units. Over 6,400 examples of all Mk. V sub-variants were produced in total.
