Description

1 Man Army Masking Set for Grumman J2F-5 Duck (Lukgraph) in 1:32 Scale

1 Man Army 32DET064 is a set of precisely laser-cut self-adhesive masks for painting basic markings and stencils on the Grumman J2F-5 Duck kit by Lukgraph in 1:32 scale. The set allows you to replace decals with airbrushed markings applied directly to the model surface, eliminating silvering and visible carrier film edges — effects that are particularly noticeable in the large 1:32 scale.

The masks are cut from yellow Kabuki-type low-tack tape, safe for lacquered modelling surfaces. The set is dimensionally matched to the Lukgraph resin kit in 1:32 scale and covers basic markings (roundels, identification lettering, unit markings) as well as maintenance stencil templates. An illustrated placement guide is included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks with laser-cut basic markings
  • Maintenance stencil templates characteristic of the J2F-5
  • Illustrated placement guide

Stencil masks for painting markings – a modern alternative to decals

Stencil masks allow identification markings, unit codes and maintenance stencils to be applied by painting rather than using decals. Painted markings are part of the lacquer layer — they blend into the model surface, share the same texture as the surrounding camouflage and produce no visible edges or silvering. In 1:32 scale, where every detail is clearly visible, the difference between a painted and a stuck-on marking is particularly pronounced.

1 Man Army masks are laser-cut from yellow Kabuki-type low-tack tape. The recommended method is to transfer the mask onto the model using transfer tape, press the edges down carefully and apply a thin coat of paint by airbrush. After drying, the mask should be removed — the recommended time left on the model should not exceed a few days. The surface should be clean, dry, degreased and fully cured. Masks are intended for single use.

About the aircraft – Grumman J2F-5 Duck:

The Grumman J2F Duck is an American single-engine amphibious biplane with a central float, developed by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation in the mid-1930s. It was an improvement over the earlier JF Duck, featuring a longer float and a more powerful engine. From 1936 the Duck served in all major branches of the US armed forces — the Navy, Marine Corps, Army Air Forces and Coast Guard — performing liaison, patrol and air-sea rescue duties.

The J2F-5 variant, produced from 1941 by Columbia Aircraft Corporation in New York, was powered by a Wright R-1820-50 Cyclone radial engine developing 950 hp. The Duck became known for rescue operations over the Pacific and Atlantic, and one J2F-6 example featured in the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. A total of 584 examples of all J2F variants were built.
