AK Interactive Verdigris acrylic wash – 18 ml
AK Interactive 19313 Verdigris is an acrylic wash in a characteristic greenish patina tone, designed to realistically reproduce corrosion effects on copper, bronze, brass, and certain metallic alloys.
The wash highlights cracks, recesses, and fine details, creating a natural-looking oxidized metal effect. It is ideal for surfaces exposed to environmental wear.
- greenish verdigris patina tone
- ideal for copper, bronze, and brass
- enhances cracks and recesses
- creates realistic corrosion effects
- matte finish
Verdigris is perfectly suited for urban or steampunk modeling bases where copper or brass elements are exposed to the environment. It adds realism to old machinery, pipes, decorative armor, and architectural details.
The wash is especially useful for miniatures depicting wizards, temples, ships, antique vehicles, or any models featuring ornamental metallic details where an aged appearance is desired.
AK Interactive acrylic washes – characteristics and use
AK Interactive acrylic washes are ready-to-use shading products with very low surface tension, allowing the pigment to naturally flow into recesses, crevices, and surface details. This creates natural shadows and improves depth and definition with minimal effort.
The water-based acrylic formula makes these washes odorless and comfortable to use during long painting sessions. Their drying time is slower than standard acrylic paints, allowing controlled application and adjustment during use.
Acrylic washes vs oil washes
Acrylic and oil washes differ mainly in working time, handling characteristics, and workflow. AK Interactive acrylic washes are water-based, odorless, and ready to use without solvent-based thinners. They dry noticeably faster than oil washes, allowing quicker progression to subsequent painting stages.
This faster drying time is both a defining feature and a limitation: acrylic washes require more deliberate application, as the window for extended corrections and blending is shorter. They are therefore well suited to controlled, layered workflows.
Oil washes offer a significantly longer working time, making it possible to repeatedly adjust, blend, and soften effects over an extended period. This provides great flexibility when shaping shadows, but requires the use of appropriate thinners and longer drying times before continuing work.
Both acrylic and oil washes serve different purposes and are not direct replacements for one another. The choice between them depends on the preferred painting technique, working pace, and the specific visual effect the modeler wants to achieve.
How to use:
Apply the wash with a brush over a fully dry base coat. Allow the pigment to flow into recesses and details, removing excess with a clean, slightly damp brush if necessary. Once dry, highlights and further detailing can be applied safely.
