AK Interactive Dry Fern – laser-cut leaves for autumn 1:35 and 1:32 dioramas

AK Interactive 8135 is a set of laser-cut leaves of dry, withered fern, intended for building dioramas, vignettes and scenes that capture the end of the growing season — autumn, early spring or parched woodland terrain. The finely shaped leaves let you recreate dead forest floor and dried-out growth at the foot of trunks, ruins or a vehicle, adding a natural contrast against fresh greenery.

The leaves are CO2 laser-cut from paper, so they keep thin edges and a clear outline — in scale they look lighter and more natural than thicker cast elements. Their size is tailored mainly to 1:35 and 1:32, but they can also be used in 1:48 projects and with 54, 75 and 90 mm figures.

Laser-cut diorama vegetation – natural scenery detail

Laser-cut dry fern leaves are a scenery material that lets you recreate dead vegetation in a way that is hard to achieve with injection-moulded parts or ready-made trees. Once cut, the thin paper keeps delicate edges, and individual leaves can be bent, layered and combined with other materials (static grass, scatter, twigs) to build multi-level, realistic growth.

For the best effect it is worth tinting the cut leaves with acrylics and washes in shades of brown, ochre and rust before mounting — dry vegetation takes on a whole range of tones from yellow to dark brown. Prepared this way, the leaves are an excellent fit for late-autumn, winter and desert scenes, and add a natural contrast in dioramas dominated by green.

How to use:

Fix the leaves in place using a small amount of white glue, diluted white glue or AK118 Gravel & Sand Fixer. It is best to apply the glue sparingly and build the foliage up in layers, letting each layer dry — this keeps the density under control and avoids flooding the detail. Fine tweezers make it easier to position the small elements.
