Description

Turned metal barrels for the battleship HMS Dreadnought in 1:350 scale

This Aber set contains a complete set of turned metal barrels intended for a model of the British battleship HMS Dreadnought in 1:350 scale. She was the ship that in 1906 set a new direction in capital-ship design and gave her name to the whole dreadnought class.

The ship model itself is not included in the set and must be purchased separately.

The set includes:

  • 10 turned barrels for the 12 in Mk.X BL main guns
  • 26 turned barrels for the 12-pounder QF Mk.I guns

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:350
  • Number: 1:350L-65
  • Manufacturer: Aber
  • Dedicated ship: HMS Dreadnought (British battleship)
  • Type: turned metal barrel set
  • Material: turned metal (aluminium or brass)

Turned metal barrels – a quick upgrade for your model

Replacing plastic barrels with turned metal parts is one of the easiest ways to raise the realism of a model. The barrels have even, thin walls and correctly reproduced muzzles, which is hard to achieve with plastic parts.

Cyanoacrylate glue works best for assembly, bonding metal to plastic securely.

About the ship – HMS Dreadnought:

HMS Dreadnought was a British battleship commissioned in 1906. As the first capital ship, she combined a uniform main battery with turbine propulsion, making her faster and more heavily armed than earlier battleships.

Her name came to describe an entire generation of warships, and older battleships became known as pre-dreadnoughts. Dreadnought had a notable influence on the naval arms race before the First World War.

Original specifications:

  • Type: battleship (dreadnought)
  • Navy: Royal Navy (United Kingdom)
  • Commissioned: 1906
  • Main armament: 12 in (305 mm) Mk.X BL guns
  • Secondary armament: 12-pounder QF Mk.I guns
