The Zimmerit coating, developed by Chemische Werke Zimmer & Co., was applied to German armored vehicles from August 1943 to September 1944. Its function was to protect against infantry HEAT magnetic mines by creating a rough, non-magnetic surface that reduced the chance of mines adhering. The coating was applied as a paste and patterned with distinctive wavy or grid textures, which increased effectiveness and gave German tanks a recognizable appearance.

Armor FX Paste A.MIG-2037 is the first quick-drying acrylic putty designed specifically for reproducing Zimmerit textures on scale models. Apply with a spatula or brush, then imprint authentic patterns using the A.MIG-8583 Zimmerit Applicator tool. The paste comes in the original Zimmerit color for an authentic base finish. It remains workable for about 20 minutes, firms within one hour, and fully cures in 24 hours. Once dry, it can be sanded, cut, chipped, and painted, providing maximum realism and versatility.
