1:350 scale plastic model kit of the IJN Battleship Kongo

This Border Model kit represents the famous Imperial Japanese Navy battleship IJN Kongo – the lead ship of her class and one of Japan’s most iconic warships of World War II. Originally built in Britain by Vickers and later modernized in Japan, Kongo was transformed from a battlecruiser into a fast battleship. She took part in numerous Pacific campaigns, including the battles of Guadalcanal, Leyte Gulf, and the Philippines, before being sunk by the U.S. submarine USS Sealion in 1944.

About the IJN Battleship Kongo:

The IJN Kongo was the first of four ships in her class and the only one built outside Japan, launched in 1912 by Vickers in the United Kingdom. After several reconstructions, she became a fast battleship capable of 30 knots, serving as an escort for Japan’s aircraft carriers and in major Pacific engagements. Armed with eight 356 mm guns, she was one of the most powerful ships of her time, blending speed and firepower in a distinctive design. Kongo was sunk on November 21, 1944, after a long and distinguished service career.
