3D-printed fenders - realistic thickness and sharp detail

Flat elements such as fenders often come out too thick in injection moulding. 3D printing achieves a realistic plate thickness and sharp edges along with mounting detail. The parts are cut from the print plate with a hobby knife and attached with cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting it is worth gently cleaning the surface of any print-support marks.

The Mgebrov-R (Izhorsky Mgebrov-Renault) is a Russian armoured car of the First World War, designed under Staff Captain Vladimir Mgebrov and built on a French Renault chassis, with armour fitted at the Izhorsky Plant. Its defining feature was the heavily sloped armour plating of the front section - one of the early applications of sloped armour, giving better ballistic protection with less plate thickness and weight.

The vehicle was operated by a crew of four (driver, commander and two gunners) and was armed with machine guns. The Mgebrov-R was built in small numbers and used mainly on the Eastern Front for reconnaissance and infantry support. Some vehicles were still being rebuilt during the 1917 Revolution. Despite the limited production, the design remains an important example of the early development of Russian armour.
