About the Vultee P-66 Vanguard

The Vultee P-66 Vanguard was developed in the United States in 1939. While initially intended as an export fighter, several dozen aircraft were delivered to China and used in combat against Japanese forces. Powered by a Wright R-1820 Cyclone radial engine producing 1200 hp, the P-66 reached speeds of around 510 km/h. Although quickly outclassed, it remains a noteworthy example of early WWII fighter development.
