Pre-painted photo-etched set – ready-made cockpit interior details

Eduard's pre-painted (colour) photo-etched sets reproduce the instrument panel, side consoles and cockpit interior details, some of which are pre-painted and self-adhesive. They significantly raise the realism of the cockpit without the need to paint the small dials, and the thin photo-etched parts reproduce elements that are hard to achieve by injection moulding.

The pre-painted parts are applied directly to the cockpit components from the kit, while the rest are painted and assembled according to the instructions. Cyanoacrylate glue is recommended for fixing the photo-etched parts, and a photo-etch bender and precision tweezers are useful for folding the frets. The set is designed for a specific plastic kit.

About the aircraft – Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9:

The Fw 190D-9, known as the "Dora" or "long-nose Dora" (Langnasen-Dora), is a development version of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in which the radial BMW 801 engine was replaced by the liquid-cooled inline Junkers Jumo 213A. The lengthened forward fuselage and the characteristic annular radiator improved its performance at medium and high altitudes.

The D-9 entered service in the autumn of 1944 and was regarded as one of the best German piston-engined fighters of the late war. It was used to attack Allied bombers and escort fighters and to protect Me 262 jet airfields.

Original aircraft specifications (Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9):

  • Length: approx. 10.2 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 10.5 m
  • Powerplant: Junkers Jumo 213A inline engine, approx. 1,750 hp (approx. 2,100 hp with MW 50)
  • Maximum speed: approx. 685 km/h
  • Crew: 1 pilot
  • Armament: 2 × MG 131 13 mm machine guns and 2 × MG 151/20 20 mm cannon
  • Production: from 1944
