Resin undercarriage wheels – realistic detail and weighted tyres

The set contains cast resin undercarriage wheels that replace the plastic parts. The resin wheels reproduce the fine texture of the tread and tyre lettering and — as is typical of this line — have a slightly flattened lower tyre section imitating deflection under the aircraft's weight (the "weighted" effect).

A self-adhesive mask is included to make painting the tyre-to-hub boundary evenly easier. The wheels are fitted with cyanoacrylate adhesive. It is one of the most striking and simplest ways to raise the realism of the undercarriage.

About the aircraft – Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX:

The Supermarine Spitfire is the most famous British fighter of the Second World War and a symbol of British resistance in the Battle of Britain. The Mk.IX version was created as an urgent response to the appearance of the German Fw 190 — the Mk.V airframe was combined with a more powerful, two-stage Rolls-Royce Merlin 60-series engine, which restored the Spitfire's edge over its opponent.

The Mk.IX proved to be one of the best and most numerously produced Spitfire variants. The version with the so-called "e" wing (designated IXe) had revised armament: two 20 mm cannon and two 12.7 mm heavy machine guns. Mk.IX Spitfires fought on every European and Mediterranean front right up to the end of the war.
