Eduard 948011 represents the Czechoslovak Avia S-199 fighter with Erla canopy. It is the very first kit in the innovative Eduard Brassin HYBRiD series, combining injection-molded plastic with advanced 3D-printed parts. This concept reduces part count while enhancing detail and ease of assembly.

The new Eduard Brassin HYBRiD series:

The HYBRiD line combines the strengths of injection molding and 3D printing. Large components such as fuselage, wings, and clear parts are injection molded for precision and perfect fit, while smaller details – cockpit, wheel wells, undercarriage, antennas, exhausts and weapons – are 3D-printed to achieve sharper detail. Landing gear legs are printed from a special durable and flexible material commonly used in dental implants, ensuring long-term strength and stability. This approach allows complex assemblies such as the wheel bay or cockpit side panels to be printed as single highly detailed parts, reducing the number of tiny pieces to glue. For example, the S-199 Hybrid cockpit floor with pedals, seat and rear bulkhead is one printed part. As a result, the part count has been reduced from 126 in the planned standard kit to just 56 in the HYBRiD version, without sacrificing accuracy or realism. Each kit also comes with masks and decals for several marking options, making the series comparable in price to Eduard’s ProfiPACK kits but with simplified assembly and enhanced details.

About the Avia S-199:

The Avia S-199 was a post-war Czechoslovak fighter derived from the Messerschmitt Bf 109G, powered by Junkers Jumo 211 engines. Despite poor flying qualities, it served as an important stopgap aircraft in the late 1940s. The type is historically significant as the first fighter used by the Israeli Air Force during the 1948 War of Independence.
