About the aircraft – Macchi MC.200 Saetta:

The Macchi MC.200 Saetta is an Italian World War II fighter and one of the mainstays of the Regia Aeronautica at the start of the conflict. Powered by a Fiat A.74 radial engine, it offered good manoeuvrability and a sturdy structure.

The Saetta was inferior in performance and armament to later inline-engine fighters, yet it fought on many fronts – over the Mediterranean, in North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
