Eduard BIG ED collection – a complete set of accessories for one model

BIG ED is a collection set offered by Eduard that brings together several individual accessory sets for the same model in a single package. This gives the modeller a complete set of detailing parts in one convenient purchase instead of buying each set separately.

BIG ED sets usually comprise photo-etched parts (thin, precise elements reproducing details that are hard to achieve by injection moulding), masks cut from yellow Kabuki masking tape, and pre-painted instrument panels and steel seatbelts. The individual parts are assembled according to the included instructions; cyanoacrylate glue is recommended for fixing the photo-etched and metal parts.

About the aircraft – Handley Page Hampden B Mk.I:

The Handley Page Hampden is a British twin-engined medium bomber of the early Second World War, recognisable by its narrow, slender fuselage, which earned it the nickname "the flying suitcase". The B Mk.I version, powered by Bristol Pegasus radial engines, was one of the principal bomber types of RAF Bomber Command in the first years of the war.

The Hampden took part in night raids on targets in Germany and in laying naval mines, and was later also used as a torpedo bomber. Despite good performance for its time, it soon gave way to heavier, four-engined bombers.

Original aircraft specifications (Handley Page Hampden B Mk.I):

  • Length: approx. 16.3 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 21.1 m
  • Powerplant: 2 × Bristol Pegasus XVIII radial engines, approx. 1,000 hp each
  • Maximum speed: approx. 410 km/h
  • Crew: 4
  • Bomb load: approx. 1,800 kg
  • Defensive armament: 7.7 mm machine guns
  • Manufacturer: Handley Page
