Eduard CX054 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Ju 290 model from Revell. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Junkers Ju 290:

The Junkers Ju 290 was a German four-engine long-range aircraft developed from the Ju 90 transport and entering service in 1942. The all-metal low-wing aircraft was powered by four BMW 801 radial engines. Its fuselage featured a hydraulic loading ramp, the Trapoklappe, that eased cargo handling. It was built in transport versions and as a long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft.

In the maritime role the Ju 290 patrolled the Atlantic, directing U-boats onto Allied convoys, and some aircraft were adapted to carry Henschel Hs 293 guided anti-ship missiles. Only about 65 examples were built, which limited their combat significance. Individual aircraft were also used for special very-long-range flights. The design was further developed into the larger six-engine Ju 390.
