Eduard CX156 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Hudson model from MPM. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: CX156
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Hudson from MPM
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Lockheed Hudson (maritime patrol bomber):

The Lockheed Hudson was developed in the late 1930s as a military derivative of the civil Model 14 Super Electra airliner. It was a twin-engine low-wing monoplane of metal construction with retractable landing gear, adapted for maritime patrol, reconnaissance and light bombing. A British order in 1938 made it one of the first American aircraft supplied in quantity to the Royal Air Force before the Second World War.

During the war the Hudson served on patrol duties over the Atlantic and other waters, attacking submarines and escorting convoys. It carried bombs and depth charges in a fuselage bay, with defensive machine guns including a dorsal turret. The aircraft was also used for transport, training and rescue tasks. It served with the British, American and Australian air forces and other allied nations.

Original specifications (Lockheed Hudson (maritime patrol bomber)):

  • Length: 13.5 m
  • Wingspan: 20.0 m
  • Height: 3.6 m
  • Max take-off weight: approx. 9,300 kg
  • Crew: 5-6
  • Powerplant: 2 x Wright R-1820 Cyclone radials (approx. 1,100 hp each)
  • Max speed: approx. 397 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 7,470 m
  • Range: approx. 3,150 km
  • Armament: up to 7 x 7.7 mm machine guns; bombs/depth charges up to approx. 750 kg
