Eduard CX472 mask set – canopy painting masks for the OH-1 Ninja model (Aoshima) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX472 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the OH-1 Ninja model from Aoshima. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja:

The Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja is a Japanese light observation and reconnaissance helicopter developed for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force as a successor to older observation types. It has a slim fuselage with a two-seat tandem cockpit and a shrouded fenestron-type tail rotor. Power comes from two domestically produced Mitsubishi TS1 turboshaft engines. A mast-mounted sight with electro-optical sensors is fitted above the cockpit.

The OH-1's main task is battlefield observation, reconnaissance and target designation rather than direct fire support. For self-defence it can carry Type 91 air-to-air missiles. Because of budget constraints and engine availability problems, only a small number were built. The crew numbers two: a pilot and an observer.
