Description

Eduard CX590 mask set – canopy painting masks for the C-130H Hercules model (Zvezda) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX590 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the C-130H Hercules model from Zvezda. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: CX590
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: C-130H Hercules from Zvezda
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Lockheed C-130J Hercules:

The Lockheed C-130J Super Hercules is the latest generation of the four-engine tactical transport of the Hercules family, whose original was first flown in 1954. The J version, first flown in 1996, is distinguished by new turboprop engines driving six-blade composite propellers, fully digital avionics with a glass cockpit and a reduced crew. The high-wing layout with a rear loading ramp and rough-field landing gear was retained from earlier versions.

The C-130J is used for transporting troops, cargo and equipment, paradrops, medical evacuation and operating from short, unpaved strips. Variants include a stretched-fuselage version and specialized versions: tankers, electronic-warfare, search-and-rescue and weather-reconnaissance aircraft. The aircraft is widely operated by the air forces of many nations. As a transport it carries no fixed armament; the exception is specialized armed gunship versions.

Original specifications (Lockheed C-130J Hercules):

  • Length: 29.79 m (34.37 m stretched C-130J-30)
  • Wingspan: 40.4 m
  • Height: 11.84 m
  • Max takeoff weight: approx. 74,400 kg
  • Crew: 3 (2 pilots, loadmaster)
  • Powerplant: 4 x Rolls-Royce AE 2100D3 turboprops, approx. 4640 hp each
  • Max speed: approx. 670 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 8600 m (loaded)
  • Range: approx. 3300 km (with payload)
  • Equipment: rear ramp and cargo hold, payload approx. 19,000 kg; no fixed armament (transport version)
  • Production: from 1996 (J version), still built
