Description

Eduard EX1015 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Hurricane Mk.IIb model (Arma Hobby) in 1:48 scale

Eduard EX1015 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Hurricane Mk.IIb model from Arma Hobby. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper in the TFace version – separate masks for the exterior and interior of the glazing, plus wheel hub masks
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX1015
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Hurricane Mk.IIb from Arma Hobby
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks (TFace version)
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Hawker Hurricane Mk.I/II:

The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter monoplane of the late 1930s, designed by Sydney Camm. It combined modern features such as retractable undercarriage and an enclosed canopy with a traditional mixed structure whose fuselage used fabric over a framework. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin inline engine. Its simple construction eased production and field repairs.

The Hurricane entered service in 1937 and during the Battle of Britain in 1940 accounted for a large share of German aircraft shot down, operating alongside the Spitfire. The Mk.I was armed with eight machine guns, while the Mk.II had a more powerful engine and heavier armament, up to four 20 mm cannon. The aircraft served on many fronts, also as a ground-attack and naval aircraft.

Original specifications (Hawker Hurricane Mk.I/II):

  • Length: 9.84 m
  • Wingspan: 12.19 m
  • Height: 4.00 m
  • Take-off weight: approx. 3500 kg (Mk.II)
  • Crew: 1
  • Powerplant: Rolls-Royce Merlin inline, approx. 1030 hp (Mk.I) / approx. 1280 hp (Mk.II)
  • Max speed: approx. 530 km/h (Mk.II)
  • Ceiling: approx. 11,000 m
  • Range: approx. 750 km
  • Armament: 8 x 7.7 mm machine guns (Mk.I); up to 4 x 20 mm cannon or 12 machine guns (Mk.II)
  • Production: over 14,000 built, 1937-1944
