The Eduard EX1177 is a set of self-adhesive masks tailored to the MiniArt Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 fighter model in 1:48 scale. The masks let you paint the canopy frame lines quickly and cleanly and separate the tyre from the wheel hub, doing away with the tedious cutting of tape by eye.

The pieces are cut from yellow Kabuki masking tape suited to delicate modelling surfaces. The set is designed for airbrush painting.

Masks for painting the canopy glazing and wheels – crisp frame edges without tedious masking

Self-adhesive masks are an accessory that lets you reproduce the canopy frame lines quickly and cleanly, and separate the tyre from the wheel hub when airbrushing. Instead of laboriously cutting strips of tape by eye, the modeller receives pieces shaped to fit a specific kit, giving sharp, even edges.

The masks are cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking tape that is safe for the model's surface. The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, dry and degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush. Once the paint has dried the masks are removed – they are intended for single use, and leaving them on the model for an extended period is not advised.

About the aircraft – Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9:

The Fw 190D-9, known as the "Dora" or "long-nose Dora" (Langnasen-Dora), is a development version of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in which the radial BMW 801 engine was replaced by the liquid-cooled inline Junkers Jumo 213A. The lengthened forward fuselage and the characteristic annular radiator changed the aircraft's silhouette and markedly improved its performance at medium and high altitudes.

The D-9 entered service in the autumn of 1944 and was regarded as one of the best German piston-engined fighters of the late war. It was used both to attack Allied bombers and escort fighters and to protect Me 262 jet airfields, which were especially vulnerable during take-off and landing.

Despite its high performance, the Dora appeared too late and in too small numbers to change the course of the air war. It remains, however, one of the Luftwaffe designs most prized by modellers and aviation enthusiasts.
