Eduard EX260 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Hawk Mk.I model from Italeri. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Curtiss P-36 Hawk / Hawk 75:

The Curtiss P-36 Hawk, factory designation Model 75, was an American single-seat fighter of the mid-1930s, one of the first modern low-wing monoplanes of the U.S. Army Air Corps with retractable undercarriage, all-metal construction and an enclosed cockpit canopy. The P-36C version was powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial. By the time of the Pearl Harbor attack in December 1941 the aircraft was already obsolete, though a few managed to get airborne.

The export Hawk 75 gained the greatest fame; France used it intensively in the 1940 campaign. After the fall of France, part of the orders was taken over by Britain as the Mohawk. The Hawk 75 and P-36 also served in Finland, the Dutch East Indies, China and Norway, among others, and on both sides of the conflict following the capture of French aircraft. The airframe became the basis for the more numerous Curtiss P-40. The data below refer to the P-36C version.
