Eduard EX790 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the F-84F Thunderstreak model from Kinetic. • Mask placement instructions

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX790
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: F-84F Thunderstreak from Kinetic
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Republic F-84F Thunderstreak:

The Republic F-84F Thunderstreak is an American fighter-bomber of the 1950s, a development of the straight-wing F-84 Thunderjet fitted with a swept wing and a more powerful engine. Despite the similar designation it was largely a new design. It first flew in 1950 and entered service in the mid-decade.

The aircraft served mainly as a strike platform in the US Air Force and in the air forces of NATO countries under military assistance programmes. The RF-84F Thunderflash reconnaissance variant had its air intakes moved to the wing roots. The F-84F was gradually replaced by supersonic aircraft. More than 2700 were built.

Original specifications (Republic F-84F Thunderstreak):

  • Length: 13.23 m
  • Wingspan: 10.24 m
  • Height: 4.39 m
  • Empty weight: 6273 kg
  • Maximum weight: 12,700 kg
  • Crew: 1
  • Powerplant: Wright J65-W-3, approx. 32 kN thrust
  • Maximum speed: 1118 km/h
  • Service ceiling: 14,000 m
  • Range: approx. 1300 km
  • Armament: 6 x 12.7 mm machine guns, up to 2700 kg of external stores
  • Production: 1951-1957, over 2700 built
