Description

Eduard EX963 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Bf 110G-4 model (Eduard) in 1:48 scale

Eduard EX963 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Bf 110G-4 model from Eduard. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The mask is tailored to the Eduard Weekend Edition kit.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX963
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Bf 110G-4 from Eduard
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Messerschmitt Bf 110G:

The Messerschmitt Bf 110 is a German twin-engine, two-seat heavy fighter designed in the late 1930s as a long-range and escort aircraft. It was an all-metal low-wing aircraft with twin vertical tails and heavy gun armament concentrated in the nose. It was powered by two Daimler-Benz inline engines, in the G version of the DB 605 type.

After poor results in the day-fighter role in the Battle of Britain, the Bf 110 found its main use as a radar-equipped night fighter with additional armament, including upward-firing oblique cannon. The G version, produced from 1942, was the most numerous and most heavily armed. About 6,000 aircraft of all versions were built.

Original specifications (Messerschmitt Bf 110G):

  • Crew: 2-3
  • Length: 12.3 m
  • Wingspan: 16.3 m
  • Height: 4.1 m
  • Empty weight: approx. 5,100 kg
  • Take-off weight: approx. 9,400 kg
  • Powerplant: 2 x Daimler-Benz DB 605B inline engines, approx. 1,475 hp each
  • Max speed: approx. 590 km/h
  • Ceiling: 10,500 m
  • Range: approx. 1,300 km
  • Armament (Bf 110G): 2 x 20 mm and 2 x 30 mm cannon in the nose, 1-2 defensive machine guns; optional oblique cannon
  • Production: approx. 6,000 aircraft of all versions (1937-1945)
