Zoom set – pre-painted cockpit details in an accessible form

Zoom is a smaller, pre-painted photo-etched set from Eduard focused on the most important, most visible interior elements – above all the pre-painted instrument panel and the seatbelts. It is a simpler and more accessible alternative to a full photo-etched set.

The pre-painted, self-adhesive parts are applied directly to the cockpit components from the kit. Cyanoacrylate glue is recommended for fixing the remaining photo-etched parts. The set is designed for a specific plastic kit.

About the aircraft – Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9:

The Fw 190D-9, known as the "Dora" or "long-nose Dora" (Langnasen-Dora), is a development version of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in which the radial BMW 801 engine was replaced by the liquid-cooled inline Junkers Jumo 213A. The lengthened forward fuselage and the characteristic annular radiator improved its performance at medium and high altitudes.

The D-9 entered service in the autumn of 1944 and was regarded as one of the best German piston-engined fighters of the late war. It was used to attack Allied bombers and escort fighters and to protect Me 262 jet airfields.

Original aircraft specifications (Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9):

  • Length: approx. 10.2 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 10.5 m
  • Powerplant: Junkers Jumo 213A inline engine, approx. 1,750 hp (approx. 2,100 hp with MW 50)
  • Maximum speed: approx. 685 km/h
  • Crew: 1 pilot
  • Armament: 2 × MG 131 13 mm machine guns and 2 × MG 151/20 20 mm cannon
  • Production: from 1944
