Colour steel seatbelts – realistic cockpit detail

This Zoom-series set contains colour, factory-painted seatbelts made of steel using the photo-etching process. The steel frets are very thin and form well, so the belts can be given a natural, freely draping arrangement on the seat — far more realistic than rigid plastic parts.

The belts are bent and secured with cyanoacrylate adhesive. It is a quick and striking way to bring the cockpit to life, especially visible with an open canopy.

About the helicopter – AH-6J Little Bird:

The AH-6 Little Bird is a light attack and reconnaissance helicopter derived from the civilian MD 500 (itself developed from the military OH-6 Cayuse). Designed for special-operations use, since the 1980s it has been closely associated with the U.S. Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (160th SOAR, the "Night Stalkers").

The AH-6J is the armed observation and attack variant, carrying weapons on side-mounted plank pylons such as unguided rocket launchers, Minigun pods and cannon. It is powered by an Allison/Rolls-Royce 250-series turboshaft. Thanks to its small size, agility and ability to operate from confined spaces, the Little Bird excels in raids, fire support and the rapid insertion of operators in urban environments.

Original specifications (AH-6 Little Bird):

  • Type: light special-operations helicopter (attack/reconnaissance)
  • Crew: 2
  • Powerplant: Allison/Rolls-Royce 250 turboshaft (approx. 425 hp)
  • Main rotor: five-blade
  • Maximum speed: approx. 260 km/h
  • Armament (variant): 7.62 mm Minigun pods, rocket launchers, cannon
  • Operator: U.S. Army (160th SOAR)
