Colour steel seatbelts – realistic cockpit detail

This Zoom-series set contains colour, factory-painted seatbelts made of steel using the photo-etching process. The steel frets are very thin and form well, so the belts can be given a natural, freely draping arrangement on the seat — far more realistic than rigid plastic parts.

The belts are bent and secured with cyanoacrylate adhesive. It is a quick and striking way to bring the cockpit to life, especially visible with an open canopy.

About the aircraft – North American T-6G Texan:

The North American T-6 Texan (also known as the Harvard in British service) is one of the most widely used training aircraft in history. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1340 radial engine, it was used for advanced pilot training before crews moved on to combat types — hence its nickname "the pilot maker".

The T-6G version was a post-war, thoroughly modernised variant with improved cockpit equipment, wiring and fuel system. Texans of this version trained pilots in many countries throughout the 1950s and 1960s, and some aircraft were also used for liaison and observation duties.

Original specifications (T-6 Texan):

  • Length: approx. 8.8 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 12.8 m
  • Crew: 2 (student and instructor)
  • Powerplant: Pratt & Whitney R-1340 radial engine, approx. 600 hp
  • Maximum speed: approx. 335 km/h
  • Range: approx. 1,200 km
  • Role: advanced trainer
