Eduard JX189 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the OS2U Kingfisher model from Kitty Hawk. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Vought OS2U Kingfisher:

The Vought OS2U Kingfisher is an American two-seat observation and scouting floatplane of the Second World War, first flown in 1938. A low-wing monoplane powered by a single radial engine, it used a central float and auxiliary underwing floats. It could be launched by catapult from warships and, with the landing gear changed, could also operate from wheeled airfields.

The Kingfisher served mainly aboard US Navy battleships and cruisers, spotting naval gunfire, flying patrols and rescuing downed aircrew. It was also used by Britain, Australia and other Allied nations. Its armament was limited to machine guns and a small load of bombs or depth charges. More than 1,500 were built between 1940 and 1942.
