Eduard JX274 mask set – canopy painting masks for the PT-13 Kaydet model (ICM) in 1:32 scale

Eduard JX274 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the PT-13 Kaydet model from ICM. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Boeing-Stearman PT-17 Kaydet (trainer biplane):

The Boeing-Stearman Model 75, military designation PT-17, is a primary training biplane designed by Stearman Aircraft, a Boeing subsidiary from 1934. It was the main elementary trainer for US Army and Navy pilots during World War II; thousands of American aviators began their careers on it. It was noted for its simple, rugged construction and forgiving flight characteristics.

Its structure used a fabric-covered steel-tube frame with wooden wings; the PT-17 is the variant powered by the Continental R-670 radial engine. Production ran from 1934 to 1945 and totalled about 8,584 aircraft, plus thousands of spare-part kits. After the war many examples went to the civil market as agricultural and aerobatic aircraft; many still fly today as vintage warbirds.
