About the F-14A Tomcat:

The Grumman F-14A Tomcat was a twin-engine, variable-sweep wing carrier-based fighter introduced in 1974. Designed as a long-range interceptor and air superiority fighter, it remained the backbone of US Navy fighter aviation until the early 2000s. Capable of carrying AIM-54 Phoenix, AIM-7 Sparrow, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles and guided bombs, the Tomcat earned a legendary reputation. VF-2 "Bounty Hunters" was one of the first squadrons to operate the Tomcat, and their aircraft became recognizable worldwide for their distinctive squadron markings.
