Plastic model kit of the F-14A Tomcat – VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” 1976

Hasegawa 02491 in 1:72 scale depicts the F-14A Tomcat in the markings of VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” during 1976. This squadron was among the first to operate the Tomcat aboard the USS Enterprise, showcasing the capabilities of the new air superiority fighter. With its variable-geometry wings, twin engines and powerful Phoenix missile system, the F-14A became a symbol of US Navy air power in the 1970s and 1980s.

About the F-14A Tomcat:

The Grumman F-14A Tomcat entered US Navy service in 1974 as the successor to the F-4 Phantom II. Powered by twin Pratt & Whitney TF30 engines and featuring variable-geometry wings, it could reach speeds over Mach 2.3. Its main advantage was the AIM-54 Phoenix missile system, capable of engaging targets at ranges beyond 150 km. VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” was one of the first squadrons to operate the Tomcat and demonstrated its full potential aboard USS Enterprise during the mid-1970s.
