Description

Plastic model kit of the Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evolution VI (Low Down Version) car in 1:24 scale

Hasegawa 20803 is a kit for self-assembly representing the Japanese Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evolution VI sports saloon. The Lancer Evolution series grew out of rallying and has become a motoring legend over the years; the Evolution VI is regarded as one of its most successful instalments.

This variant (Low Down Version) includes parts to build the car with a lowered suspension, giving the silhouette a lower, more sporting stance. It is a curbside kit with a detailed interior, underbody and suspension.

What's in the box:

  • Plastic sprues with body and interior parts
  • Clear parts (windows, lenses)
  • Lowered-suspension parts (Low Down)
  • Chrome-plated parts
  • Rubber tyres
  • Window masks
  • Waterslide decal sheet (model markings, plates)
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Specifications:

  • Scale: 1:24
  • Catalogue number: 20803
  • Manufacturer: Hasegawa
  • Assembled length: 181 mm, width: 74 mm
  • Difficulty level: intermediate

Note: The kit does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Assembly:

The model is recommended for modellers with some experience. Careful preparation and painting of the body has a decisive effect on the final result. The interior and underbody are best painted before final assembly, and the lowered suspension set up according to the instructions.

The body colour can be chosen freely or as suggested in the instructions. The body is usually finished with a clear coat for gloss, and decals are best applied over a glossy surface to avoid decal silvering.

Tools required:

  • Modelling nippers for removing parts from the sprues
  • Modelling knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper for cleaning up sprue-gate marks
  • Plastic cement
  • Brushes in various sizes
  • Modelling paints (acrylic, enamel or automotive lacquers)
  • Clear coat for finishing the body
  • A wash to bring out the detail

About the car – Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI:

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a family of high-performance versions of the Lancer saloon, developed for rally competition. These cars combined a turbocharged engine with four-wheel drive, offering high performance in an accessible body.

The Evolution VI, built around the turn of the 2000s, is regarded as one of the most highly valued instalments of the series. The GSR variant was the road version, more generously equipped than the stripped-down RS rally versions.

Lancer Evolution cars enjoyed success in the World Rally Championship, which translated into enormous popularity among motoring enthusiasts. The Hasegawa model allows the Evolution VI to be reproduced in a lowered, sporting stance.

Original car specifications (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI):

  • Layout: four-door saloon, four-wheel drive
  • Engine: turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four
  • Power: approx. 280 hp
  • Production period: turn of the 2000s
  • Character: high-performance saloon with rally roots

About the manufacturer – Hasegawa:

Hasegawa is a Japanese manufacturer of model kits based in Shizuoka, a region regarded as the centre of the Japanese model industry. The company has operated since 1941; it began with wooden products and from the 1960s focused on plastic models. Alongside its extensive aircraft range, the brand develops a large 1:24 car series covering motoring classics, sports cars and rally and racing machines. Hasegawa models are valued for their accurate shapes, finely reproduced panel lines and good parts fit. The manufacturer regularly releases limited editions of established moulds with new decal sheets and additional parts that reproduce specific versions and liveries. This lets modellers build many variants of the same car. Hasegawa remains one of the most recognisable model brands in the world and is available in many countries.
