Hasegawa 20808 is a kit for self-assembly representing the Japanese Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1800GSR Turbo sports saloon. This 1980s car combined a compact four-door body with a turbocharged engine and is regarded as the forerunner of the concept later developed by the Lancer Evolution series.

This release includes additional parts giving the car a tuned character: over fenders, a front bumper and auxiliary lights. It is a curbside kit with a detailed interior, underbody and suspension.

Assembly:

The model is recommended for modellers with some experience. The over fenders and the other styling parts are worth fitting and finishing with particular care, as they strongly affect the car's silhouette. The interior and underbody are best painted before final assembly.

The body colour can be chosen freely or as suggested in the instructions. Factory chrome-plated parts can be left in their original finish or airbrushed with dedicated chrome-like paints. The body is usually finished with a clear coat, and decals are best applied over a glossy surface to avoid decal silvering.

The Mitsubishi Lancer EX is a compact saloon produced at the turn of the 1980s. The sporting 1800GSR Turbo version received a turbocharged engine, and in its later form an intercooler as well, which significantly raised performance.

The concept of fitting a powerful turbocharged engine into a compact four-door body was later developed in the famous Lancer Evolution series. The Lancer EX Turbo is therefore regarded as its conceptual forerunner.
