Kinetic 48172 is a plastic model kit allowing the construction of the F-16 Fighting Falcon (Viper) multirole fighter in the Block 52+ configuration operated by the Polish Air Force. The kit includes parts for both the single-seat F-16C and the twin-seat F-16D versions. A characteristic feature of the Block 52+ variant is the dorsal spine housing additional avionics (shared with the Israeli F-16I Sufa and Singaporean variants), as well as optional conformal fuel tanks (CFTs), which significantly increase operational range without sacrificing underwing weapon stations.

The tooling includes 19 gray plastic sprues and 3 clear sprues, plus a small photo-etched fret intended for the CFT inserts. The NSI (narrow-mouth) air intake and Pratt & Whitney engine exhaust are accurately reproduced for the Block 52+ configuration. The kit also includes the parachute housing mounted at the base of the vertical stabilizer.

Building the model:

The kit is based on Kinetic’s proven tooling dedicated to the Block 52+ versions. Assembly of the conformal fuel tanks requires careful fitting and the use of cyanoacrylate glue for the photo-etched parts. The air intake and canopy area require particular attention during filling and sanding of seams. It is recommended to paint the cockpit interior and intake trunking before joining the fuselage halves.

Polish F-16C/D Block 52+ aircraft wear a two-tone gray camouflage scheme: dark gray (for example Gunze C-307 Dark Sea Grey or equivalent NATO FS36118/36270 shades) over a lighter gray underside. Decals should be applied over a gloss-coated surface to avoid silvering, then sealed with either satin or matte varnish depending on the preferred finish.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-seat (or twin-seat in the D version) multirole fighter developed by General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin). Poland purchased 48 F-16C/D Block 52+ aircraft under the Peace Sky program, with deliveries carried out between 2006 and 2008. The aircraft entered service with the 2nd Tactical Air Wing in Poznań-Krzesiny and the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask.

The Block 52+ variant is distinguished by the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-229 engine, advanced avionics with the AN/APG-68(V)9 radar, the MIDS Link-16 communication system, and the ability to carry precision-guided weapons such as JDAM bombs and AMRAAM missiles.
