Description

Plastic model kit of the BMW M 1000 RR motorcycle in 1:9 scale - Pre-Colored Edition

Meng MT009S is a model of the BMW M 1000 RR motorcycle in large 1:9 scale, released as a Pre-Colored edition. The parts leave the mould already in their final colours, with carbon fibre texture reproduced on the fairings, winglets and fuel tank, so the model can be assembled without paint and without glue. That shortens the path to a striking result while leaving the door open for modellers who prefer to paint the model their own way.

The kit reproduces the 999 cc inline-four engine, the twin-spar frame, the upside-down front forks and wheels with carbon texture. It is completed by stainless steel brake discs, rubber-like tyres, photo-etched parts, mirror-finish decals for the rear-view mirrors and a waterslide decal for the instrument panel.

What's in the box:

  • Pre-coloured plastic parts with moulded-in carbon fibre texture
  • Stainless steel brake discs
  • Rubber-like tyres
  • Photo-etched parts
  • Mirror-finish decals for the rear-view mirrors
  • Waterslide decals, including the instrument panel
  • Illustrated instructions

Kit specifications:

  • Scale: 1:9
  • Catalogue number: MT009S
  • Manufacturer: Meng
  • Assembled model length: approx. 230 mm
  • Edition: Pre-Colored - no glue or painting required
  • Skill level: beginner/intermediate

Note: Glue, paints and modelling tools are not included. This kit requires assembly.

Building the model:

The Pre-Colored edition can be assembled without glue and without paint - all you need are sprue cutters and a knife or file to clean up the gate marks. Cut the parts with a margin and remove the remaining nubs gradually, so as not to damage the factory surface finish. Cyanoacrylate glue is used for the photo-etched parts and the brake discs.

Experienced modellers often go further: applying a wash to bring out the recesses of the engine and frame, painting details such as cables, springs and suspension components, and finishing with a gloss coat on the fairings and a matt or satin coat on the mechanical parts. Both approaches are entirely valid; the kit leaves you free to choose between a quick build and a full modelling treatment.

Tools you will need:

  • Sprue cutters
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and fine sanding paper
  • Precision modelling tweezers
  • Cyanoacrylate glue for photo-etched and metal parts
  • Optional: model paints and washes for finishing the details

About the motorcycle - BMW M 1000 RR:

The BMW M 1000 RR is the most track-focused production motorcycle in the Bavarian manufacturer's range - the first machine to carry the M designation, previously reserved for BMW's top-tier cars. It derives from the S 1000 RR but has been reworked for circuit use: a more powerful engine, aerodynamic winglets, lighter carbon fibre wheels and an upgraded braking system.

At its heart is a 999 cc inline-four engine with the ShiftCam variable valve timing system, producing roughly 205-212 hp depending on model year and market. The bike runs 45 mm upside-down front forks, twin front brake discs and advanced rider-assistance electronics.

The M 1000 RR is the basis of the machines competing in the Superbike World Championship, where BMW took the title in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. It is road-legal, but designed with the track in mind - with clearly race-derived ergonomics and aerodynamics.

Original motorcycle specifications (BMW M 1000 RR):

  • Engine: inline-four, 999 cc, with ShiftCam system
  • Bore x stroke: 80 x 49.7 mm
  • Compression ratio: 14.5:1
  • Power: approx. 205-212 hp at 13,000 rpm (depending on model year and market)
  • Maximum torque: approx. 113 Nm at 11,100 rpm
  • Top speed: approx. 304 km/h
  • Kerb weight: approx. 194 kg
  • Front suspension: 45 mm upside-down forks
  • Front brakes: twin 320 mm discs
  • Wheels: carbon fibre
