Description

MikroMir 72034 – Junkers Ju 388 L-1, 1:72 model kit

MikroMir 72034 is a self-assembly model of the high-altitude Junkers Ju 388 L-1 reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. It is a short-run kit, supplemented with photo-etched parts and masks.

What's in the box:

  • Injection-moulded plastic parts (short-run)
  • Photo-etched parts
  • Painting masks
  • Decals with marking options per the instructions
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Product code: 72034
  • Manufacturer: MikroMir
  • Assembled length: approx. 208 mm, wingspan: approx. 306 mm
  • Difficulty: intermediate/advanced (short-run kit)

Note: the set does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Assembly:

As a short-run kit, the model calls for dry-fitting and gentle clean-up before gluing. The plastic parts are joined with plastic cement and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The glazing is best painted using the included masks.

We recommend applying the decals over a gloss coat, which limits the risk of decal silvering, and after drying sealing them with a matt or satin coat.

Required tools:

  • Modelling nippers
  • Modelling knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper
  • Plastic cement
  • Cyanoacrylate glue (for photo-etched and small parts)
  • Precise modelling tweezers
  • Primer, brushes and modelling paints
  • Modelling wash to emphasise details

About the aircraft – Junkers Ju 388 L-1:

The Junkers Ju 388 "Störtebeker" is a German multi-role aircraft from the end of the Second World War, derived from the Ju 88 and Ju 188. The L-1 version was intended for high-altitude reconnaissance: it had a pressurised cabin, a set of cameras and a remotely operated defensive position. It was built only in small numbers and entered service too late to play a significant role.

Specifications (Junkers Ju 388 L-1):

  • Length: approx. 14.95 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 22.0 m
  • Crew: 3
  • Powerplant: two turbocharged BMW 801 radial engines
  • Maximum speed: approx. 615 km/h
  • Equipment: reconnaissance cameras; remotely operated tail defensive position

About the manufacturer – MikroMir:

MikroMir is a Ukrainian manufacturer of plastic models specialising in short-run kits – often less common aircraft, naval and space subjects. The kits combine plastic parts with photo-etched details and masks.
