Solvent based white putty made by Mr.Hobby is a useful gap filler for plastic model kits. It has a consistency of semi liquid paste (a little less thick than P.118 Mr.White Putty), that is easy to pick up with a toothpic, spatula or brush and apply even into hard to reach places that need filling. Putty shrinks while drying so it might be neccessary to apply several layers to achieve smooth and levelled surface. Putty surface might crack while drying if we apply too thick layer. It can be sanded, drilled etc. when fully cured. Can be thinned down using Mr.Color Thinnerm Leveling Thinner or Rapid Thinner.

Putty is one of the basic materials in modeller's workshop used to fill gaps and imperfections in a model kit.

They usually have consistency of a paste, but also available are putties which are a thick fluid. Main purpose of a putty is to fill a gap, so that the model's surface becomes smooth and even. To achieve this you have to sand the putty after it dries using a file or sandpaper of proper grit.

Modelling putties can be either solvent based or acrylic based. Solvent putties can be thinned down - if required - using appropriate products like Lacquer Thinner or Leveling Thinner. They shrink while drying so remember to use a little more putty than needed to compensate for this. If the result is not satisfying - repeat the process adding another layer of putty. Acrylic based putties are usually water soluble and dry faster than solvent ones. Ant excess can be removed using a cotton bud moistened with water before the putty dries.
