Description

Model of the combined post and 2nd class coach in Deutsche Reichsbahn livery

This H0-scale model reproduces a combined post and 2nd class coach of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in a livery characteristic of Era III. The prototype is a classic Saxon compartment coach with a brakeman’s platform at one end, combining a post/baggage compartment with passenger compartments – vehicles of this kind served local traffic on German lines for decades.

The model stands out with its attractive body featuring numerous separately applied details and very good running characteristics. It is prepared for interior lighting, which makes it possible to further enhance the way it is presented on a layout. Clean paintwork and precise printing complete the picture.

About the vehicle – Saxon compartment coaches:

The Saxon State Railways continued to procure compartment coaches for passenger service even after the First World War. Between 1910 and 1916, two- and three-axle vehicles with a brakeman’s platform at one end were delivered. Besides pure passenger coaches, versions with load compartments as well as baggage and post/baggage cars were also built. A characteristic feature of the design was the side doors leading directly into the individual compartments. After years of service on German railways, some of these coaches passed to the Deutsche Reichsbahn, where they were used in local traffic into Era III.
