Description

Plastic model kit of the Focke-Wulf "Flitzer" (P-Series) jet fighter in 1:72 scale

Revell 63761 recreates the Focke-Wulf "Flitzer" — a German jet fighter project from the end of the Second World War that was never built as a flying prototype. It is a subject from the "what-if" theme (Luftwaffe '46) popular among modellers, distinguished by an unusual silhouette: a short fuselage, twin tail booms and air intakes in the wing roots. It comes as a paint-inclusive Model Set.

Thanks to its moderate parts count it is a compact project in which the finish and painting demand the most attention. Because the aircraft never entered service, the modeller has considerable creative freedom in choosing camouflage and markings.

What's in the box:

  • Plastic parts
  • Decal sheet with hypothetical markings
  • Paints, glue and a brush (paint-inclusive set)
  • Illustrated, multilingual assembly instructions

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: 63761
  • Manufacturer: Revell
  • Assembled length: approx. 14.5 cm; wingspan: approx. 11 cm
  • Number of parts: approx. 38
  • Difficulty: beginner/intermediate

Gift set: includes the modelling paints, glue and brush needed to assemble and paint the model.

Building the model:

With its small parts count and the included paints, glue and brush, the model is an accessible, compact project — also for those who want to try more refined painting. As this is a design project, the paint schemes are speculative — a good opportunity to choose your own late-war Luftwaffe camouflage. Apply decals over a gloss coat and finish the model in satin or matt.

Useful tools (to complement what's in the set):

  • Modelling side cutters for removing parts from the sprues
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper for cleaning up sprue gate marks
  • Optionally, extra paints and a wash to deepen the effects

About the aircraft – Focke-Wulf "Flitzer":

The Focke-Wulf "Flitzer" (an internal project designation) was one of the German jet fighter projects developed towards the end of the Second World War. It was planned as a single-engine fighter with a centrally mounted jet engine, twin tail booms and air intakes in the wing roots.

Although the project was well advanced and a full-scale mock-up was built, work was halted in 1945 in favour of another design (the Focke-Wulf Ta 183). The "Flitzer" never took to the air, which is why it is today a popular subject among modellers interested in projects that never progressed beyond the concept stage.

Specifications of the original (Focke-Wulf "Flitzer", design figures):

  • Length: approx. 10.5 m (per design)
  • Wingspan: approx. 8.0 m (per design)
  • Crew: 1
  • Powerplant: a single planned jet engine
  • Status: project never built (a full-scale mock-up was made)
  • Development period: 1944–1945

About the manufacturer – Revell:

Revell is one of the most recognisable model brands in the world, with roots reaching back to the 1940s; the European arm of the company operates from Germany. The brand offers a broad range of plastic model kits across many scales — aircraft, military vehicles, cars, ships and space subjects — alongside paints, glues, tools and gift sets. Revell kits are graded on a five-level difficulty scale, which makes it easy to match a kit to a modeller's experience. New releases and reissues of classic tooling appear every month. The kits are known for clear, multilingual instructions and accessible engineering, which makes the brand popular with beginners and experienced modellers alike.
