About Silberling coaches:

The n-type coaches, widely known as “Silberlinge”, were among the most important passenger coaches of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Introduced in the 1960s, over 5,000 units were built, making them the backbone of regional passenger services in West Germany for decades.

During the 1970s to 1990s, these coaches received updated markings including large class numbers and pictograms. Versions with ocean blue frames and orange 1st class stripes became typical for this period.
