Photo-etched and 3D-printed accessories – precise detail enhancement

Photo-etched parts are very thin, precisely rendered elements cut from a metal fret. They reproduce details that would have to be thicker and less sharp in injection moulding – in this set, among others, clamps, brackets, fenders and small fittings. Photo-etched parts are best attached with cyanoacrylate glue, and the larger ones can be gently shaped before gluing.

The 3D-printed parts – the muzzle brake, headlights, cable eyes and fire extinguisher – offer high resolution and crisp detail. These parts are likewise attached with cyanoacrylate glue. When separating printed parts from their supports it is worth proceeding carefully and using a sharp tool so as not to damage the delicate surfaces. To raise the quality and level of detail of the model, it is worth planning the sequence of work so that the upgrade parts are added at the appropriate stage of assembly and painting.

The JS-2 (IS-2) was a Soviet heavy tank introduced into service in 1944, armed with a powerful 122 mm gun. Its main task was to break through German defences and support the advance with firepower capable of engaging both fortifications and the enemy's heavy armoured vehicles.

The Model 1944 version introduced changes that improved production and increased the vehicle's effectiveness, including a redesigned front hull and an improved 122 mm gun with a better breech mechanism.
