Snowman SP7035 is a self-assembly kit reproducing the German battlecruiser SMS Lützow as she was in 1916 — a Derfflinger-class ship that played an important role in the Battle of Jutland. The kit is prepared as a waterline model.

The model is produced using injection-moulded plastic.

Building the model:

The waterline version lets you build the ship down to the waterline and display it on a base imitating the sea surface. The numerous small superstructure and armament parts require careful assembly.

German ships of the First World War were usually painted in a uniform naval grey. Details are best emphasised with a wash, and the decks and fittings refined to bring out the richness of the superstructure.

About the ship – SMS Lützow:

SMS Lützow was a German Derfflinger-class battlecruiser commissioned in 1915. Armed with eight 305 mm guns in four twin turrets, she was among the most powerful units of the Kaiserliche Marine.

During the Battle of Jutland in 1916, serving as the flagship of the German scouting forces, Lützow heavily damaged British ships but herself suffered critical damage. After an unsuccessful attempt to save the ship, she was abandoned and scuttled by torpedoes from her own escorting torpedo boats.
