The Tamiya 24376 kit represents the Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo – one of the most spectacular racing cars of the late 1970s. Although based on the production Ford Capri, the race version was extensively modified by the German Zakspeed racing team for competition in the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM).

The car featured extremely wide bodywork, aggressive aerodynamic elements, and a powerful turbocharged engine. With its combination of high power and relatively low weight, the Capri Turbo became one of the fastest and most visually striking race cars of its era.

About the Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo

The Ford Capri was one of the most popular European sports cars of the 1970s, but the Zakspeed racing version was dramatically different from the production model. The car was heavily modified with lightweight body panels, massive fender flares, and advanced aerodynamic components.

The most impressive feature was its turbocharged inline-four engine, which in racing specification produced over 600 horsepower. Combined with the car’s lightweight construction, this gave the Capri Turbo outstanding performance on the track.
