About the vehicle – Universal Carrier Mk.I:

The Universal Carrier (popularly known as the Bren Carrier) is a British light tracked armoured carrier – one of the most recognisable support vehicles of the British and Commonwealth forces during the Second World War. It was a multi-purpose vehicle: used for transport and reconnaissance, as a mobile machine-gun or mortar position, for towing and for bringing up supplies. With more than 100,000 examples built, it is regarded as the most heavily produced armoured vehicle in history.

The Universal Carrier was widely used by the Polish Armed Forces in the West. It served, among others, with the Independent Carpathian Rifle Brigade, units of General Maczek's 1st Armoured Division and reconnaissance regiments, and Polish soldiers used it on the Italian front and in North-West Europe. Small, agile and versatile, the vehicle performed well in its assigned roles despite its thin armour.
