Description

Ammo Mig 20768 ATOM – paint set for the British Caunter camouflage

Ammo Mig 20768 is a set of six ATOM acrylic paints matched to reproducing the British Caunter camouflage. This was a scheme used in the early years of World War II — mainly in 1941–1942 — on vehicles operating in North Africa. Its distinctive, geometric arrangement of bands was meant to break up the vehicle's silhouette against the desert terrain.

The scheme was applied above all to British Army tanks and armoured vehicles, including the Matilda II and Valentine infantry tanks, the A9, A10 and A13 cruiser tanks, the Mk III, IV and VI light tanks and the M3 Stuart, the Universal and Scout carriers, as well as the Dorchester ACV, Marmon-Herrington armoured cars and many trucks.

Set contents:

  • ATOM Color Desert Sand – FS27043 (ATOM-20007)
  • ATOM Color Sand Yellow – FS33637 (ATOM-20021)
  • ATOM Color Midgrey – FS26420 (ATOM-20003)
  • ATOM Color Brown – FS30140 (ATOM-20057)
  • ATOM Color Braunviolett RLM81 – FS30045 (ATOM-20059)
  • ATOM Color Olive Drab – FS34087 (ATOM-20069)

ATOM paints are water-based and optimised for maximum performance with both brush and airbrush.

They stand out for self-levelling and fast drying, as well as strong covering power. They are also very durable, so acrylic and oil weathering products, as well as decal solutions, can be applied over them without trouble. The paints are sold in a new transparent 20 ml bottle with a new cap that can be opened and closed with one hand.

The paints are non-toxic and odourless.

They work very well for brush painting. They are also suitable for airbrushing, especially when you prefer to avoid strong-smelling paints. The paints are intended for plastic models and figures, but can also be used on card, wood and resin models. They can equally be used for hobby work unrelated to modelling.

For airbrushing, the paints must be thinned. We recommend the original Ammo Mig 20501 (20511 and 20521) Acrylic Thinner with Retarder, though other thinners for typical acrylic paints can also be used.

Uses

The set suits building models of British armour and vehicles from the North African campaign painted in the Caunter scheme. The chosen colours let you reproduce the multi-colour, geometric arrangement of bands typical of this camouflage.
